Greenfield is looking for a Director Regulatory Compliance to join our growing team.

Position Overview:

The Director Regulatory Compliance will provide technical advisory services, and support for technical-regulatory & product- quality/ safety certification aspects of Greenfield Global’s products to ensure compliance and acquisition of required licences, permits and certifications.

Your Experience Should Include:
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience
  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field
  • Deep knowledge and experience of KPI’s and metrics as it relates to Regulatory and Compliance
  • Prior experience with leading Regulatory and Compliance.
Bonus Points If You Have Any of These:
  • Bilingual (English/French) would be an asset, but not required.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Continuous monitoring, Identification and communication of regulatory compliance requirements for raw materials and finished products to the Canadian Business Units and Executive team as required.
  • Clearly identify risks and regulatory strategies to mitigate risks as it pertains to products in Canada as well as other jurisdictions in which the company operates or sells products to.
  • Providing guidance to senior leadership to interpret regulatory/ compliance standards and recommend standards or best-practices for effective implementation across the business.
  • Providing support to product quality teams to interpret product-certification requirements and recommend standards or best-practices for effective implementation across the business.
  • Technical support for customer-specific technical enquiries that are outside of the expertise of the business unit(s).
  • Establishment and maintenance of policies, standards, procedures and/or work instructions for the regulatory compliance function.
  • Support to sites for technical enquiries, interpretations, standards of implementation for certifications, renewals/ re-certifications.
  • Development of regulatory relationship strategy where appropriate.
  • Participation and coordination of participation in various associations and working groups related to regulatory matters.
  • Acquisition due diligence with regards to regulatory compliance and risk.
  • Support and coordinate the standardization of applicable corporate policies and standards.
  • Support the Legal Team with other regulatory/compliance activities as required (e.g. Modern Slavery Report).
  • Liaise with the Marketing Team to review and provide guidance on claim substantiation in marketing materials.
  • Manage, triage and reply to customer requests related to technical information about Greenfield products.
  • In Scope:
    • Canadian Environmental Regulations (CEPA)
    • Canadian Food & Drug Safety Regulations/ Certifications (Health Canada)
    • Canadian Product Safety, Safety Data Sheets (WHMIS, HPR)
    • Canadian Packaging & Labelling Regulations, including label content approvals where necessary (Excise, WHMIS, Health Canada)
    • Canadian Feed Safety Regulations/ Certifications (CFIA)
    • Provide guidance to stakeholders on product certifications, i.e. Non-GMO, Allergen, Kosher, Halal, cGMP, etc.
    • Excise Licenses/Registrations for Ethanol Products
  • Areas that may require support and advice on an as needed basis:
    • Regulatory Compliance at the business unit level, including the day-to-day monitoring, auditing and compliance of established protocols at all sites within the business units.
    • EH&S Regulations and Monitoring & Compliance at the business unit level.
    • Financial/ Accounting Monitoring & Compliance
    • HR/ Labour Monitoring & Compliance
    • Local Building Code, Fire Code, Electrical Code, Boiler Code requirements, including TSSA compliance.
    • US Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) regulations.
    • Transportation of Dangerous Goods & Transportation Compliance
    • Business ethics and corporate compliance
    • ESG Reporting and sustainability platform (e.g. EcoVadis)
