Position Overview

The Maintenance Purchaser will, in coordination with the Maintenance Manager and other management team members, be responsible for the day-to-day inventory and purchasing of all maintenance parts, coordinating payment with accounts payable and upkeep of MAXIMO (CMMS) and other maintenance management systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and complete purchase requisitions, place purchase orders for spare parts, tools, and equipment related to the day-to-day requirements of the maintenance department and plant
  • Prepare and complete purchase requisitions and place purchase orders for capital projects
  • Receive all parts, review invoices and coordinate activities with the accounting group
  • Overall responsibility for parts inventory including job kitting, stock room organization and inventory accuracy
  • Participate and assist with leadership and implementation of the reliability program and a reliability culture
  • Parts expediting, delivery date inquiries, ship out any return parts or parts for repair
  • Investigate warranty issues with vendors
  • Input and extract data using MAXIMO (CMMS) to ensure up to date records of inventory, parts locations and quantities, document links, assets and locations are maintained
  • Assist with new vendor set up
  • Assist with tracking and implementation of capital projects inventory, ensuring all new assets are input and linked to all equipment in Maximo and ensure that all equipment documentation/manual are available
  • Champion any Maximo system upgrades, or changes as directed by the Maintenance Manager
  • Create reports or assist in creating reports on maintenance costs
  • Assist Maintenance Planner to plan, schedule and prioritize all shutdown activities
  • Responsible for equipment calibration and availability (belt tension, gas detector, flowmeter, etc.) based on set frequency and/or needs
  • Assist with implementation of capital projects as required
  • Participate positively in and support compliance of FEMAS, FSMA and any other food and feed safety standard
  • Driver of continuous improvement culture by proposing purchasing process improvements
  • Being available to be on-call as required
  • Vacation back-up for Maintenance Planner.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in related field
  • Trade certificate or equivalent experience is desired
  • Experience with a CMMS (ideally Maximo) would be an asset
  • A thinker, eager to learn, self-motivated and a self-starter
  • Communicate competently in both oral and written form
