Position Overview

A Quality Laboratory Analyst will work as part of an overall team to monitor, analyze and optimize the Production Process.  They will provide technical support to the Process group and be able provide input when required.   The individual must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks.  It is expected that a Lab Analyst will help to solve practical problems using a team approach.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Supporting fulfillment of all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
• Support goals and objectives to align with the vision in the areas of Safety, Product Quality and Consistency, Customer Service, ISO compliance, FSMA compliance, FEMAS compliance, ISCC compliance, Internal Supplier Relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Supports and ensures plant compliance in GMPs, pharma, food and feed safety
• Actively engage in Continuous Improvement activities, including Kaizen and Lean Systems
• Responsible for checking outgoing products to ensure that they are free of defects and produced according to internal specifications and external guidelines
• Responsible for the daily testing of process samples to monitor product quality and adherence to specifications
• Record all data used to monitor process conditions and predict possible upsets
• Perform shipping calculations and complete alcohol shipment documentation
• Analyze final product samples to prepare Certificate of Analysis
• Maintain accurate records for Excise Canada purposes
• Maintain all laboratory equipment, including required calibrations & routine preventative maintenance
• Proficient in the safe handling and disposal of all lab chemicals
• Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner in line with all laboratory safety guidelines
• Effectively communicate with all levels of organization
• Work with process operations to adjust parameters to maintain quality
• Participate in Process Optimization trials
• Knowledge of applicable methodologies that can assist in improving overall plant performance (DOE, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Special Project assignments as required
• Understanding and demonstrated use of Statistical Process Control to examine process
• Effectively analyze and trend data in order to monitor process, predict possible upsets, and provide input
• Validate methods through Measurement Systems Analysis techniques
• Actively participate in problem-solving process issues and in optimization plans
• Other duties and responsibilities aligned to business objectives and in support of our core principles.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Completion of post-secondary education with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology, or other related discipline
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience would be an asset
  • Ability to work a rotating shift on a 24 hour per day / 7 day per week basis.
  • Quality and customer service focus, with an ability to build positive and professional rapport with customers.
  • Ability to communicate competently both oral and written form
  • Ability to compile and interpret vast quantities of data
  • Read, interpret, prepare or assist in the preparation of documents
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Clearly describe problems to co-workers, operators and management
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to use e-mail effectively for company-wide communications
  • Adequate numeracy related to the position.
