Greenfield is looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing team.

Location: Remote across Canada, with preference for candidates near our operational areas.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for the development of new emerging technologies related to sustainable fuels, including the analysis of pilot plant operational data in order to further develop technology, the design of demonstration plants and ultimately participate in the design and startup of a commercial facility.

Your Experience Should Include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with P. Eng. Designation or master /PhD chemical engineering degree.
  • Five years of related experience with advanced degrees or 10 years with bachelor’s degree. Prior leadership experience is an asset.
  • Competent person who is knowledgeable of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations.
  • Resourceful and practical, with demonstrated problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience with process modelling and process technology comparison through FEL1 capital cost estimating of various alternatives.
  • Must have an aptitude for learning, including new software tools / applications (e.g. Aspen)
  • Strong organizational skills paired with an ability to manage multiple priorities with competing demands.
  • Focused individual who maintains safety standards while working to achieve business objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all Company health and safety, environmental, and quality policies and regulatory requirements
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of various process technologies, and the interrelationship between unit operations, from the perspectives of chemical reactions, raw material consumption, mass and energy balance while maintaining a thorough knowledge of industry standards.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Research & Development (R&D) pilot plant teams for troubleshooting, problem solving and continuous improvement activities
  • Support the team to develop, build and enhance operator knowledge and experience through team-based, participative improvement initiatives and technical training.
  • Work with chemical and equipment suppliers and the R&D team to develop and maintain operating procedures and to optimize the performance of the process.
  • Maintain the necessary documentation to support project initiatives including: project timelines, progress reports, PID’s, mass and energy balances, operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Utilize simulation software (Aspen Software Suite) for process modelling and economic evaluations of the technology.
  • Provide support to develop and improve the control strategy for each of the unit operations at pilot plant and demonstration plant scale.
  • For major CAPEX projects, such as pilot plants and demonstration plants, provides support for the design of the project, establishing the KPIs, liaison with the engineering group and external consultants, design of the optimization plan and the EBIDTA project metrics.
  • Assist the R&D team for process optimization trials using Design of Experiments (DOE), extracting and analyzing data, and generating a final report with conclusion and recommendations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Root Cause Analysis, HAZOP, and design review.
  • Other duties and responsibilities aligned to business objectives and in support of our core principles.
